Apple has just announced the latest version of its operating system for Mac computers, OS X (10.11) El Capitan, the WWDC 2015 annual meeting in San Francisco. The OS X El Capitan comes to succeed last year's Yosemite and brings improvements in performance and user experience on the platform.
Unlike last year's OS X, which brought big redesign the UI, the El Capitan focuses on small UI changes and improvements inside the operating system. Within these changes is support for OpenGL, and the introduction of Metal for Mac for faster and more efficient performance.
The yield of the whole system is improved and the opening of applications, documents, and the switching between them will be much quicker.
The OS X El Capitan also support new gestures for our most everyday actions. Furthermore, the Spotlight search has improved, while the new Split View may place automatically two applications side by side.
The Safari web browser of Apple has also improved, and now supports pinning tabs - a feature exists in other browsers already, and now allows you to control the audio output of the tabs.
The developer beta of Mac OS X El Capitan will be available today and users will get the final version for free this fall.
